SUBIC
Big sandy beaches & many good restaurants and bars in three different areas, Subic Bay waterfront, Barrio Barretto village and the main drag of Olongapo town make this an attractive holiday and diving destination.
Baloy Beach has a number of nice hotels.
There are many other activities including, waterskiing, jet skis and banana boat rides and many other watersports, horse riding, go karting, golf, jungle walks and survival training displays and interaction with local tribes.
Sea World, is a marine park giving displays of dolphins and killer whales (for which diving can be separately arranged).
SCUBA DIVING IN SUBIC BAY AREA
USS New York
An 120m long battle cruiser. Flagship of the American fleet in Spanish American War and after of the Asiatic Fleet. Sunk in 1941 and sits in 27m of water. Good condition with superstructure in good shape, 8in guns still in tact with many fantastic swim throughs available.
Seian Maru.
A 100m Japanese cargo ship. Sunk in WWII, Good condition with most of the superstructure intact, large holds for easy swim thru and exploration.
Oryoko Maru.
Passenger Ship sunk by US in 1945. 110m long. Now somewhat flattened for access to the dockyard but still has some interesting swimthrus and good marine life. Was one of the famed hellships of WWII.
TLS.
A Tank Landing Ship lying upright in 33m of water. 80m long with big holds and tight corridors for exciting swim thrus. An abundance of marine life lives on this wreck.
El Capitan.
An 100m long freighter lying on its side in 24m of water excellent swim thrus and marine life.
San Quentin
Sunk in 1898 during the Spanish American war this 130m long gun boat hosts an array of topical marine life. The superstructure is mostly gone but the outline is clearly discernible as are the bow, aft and huge boilers of this steam driven boat.
Japanese Patrol Boat
lying at 24m this 40m boat is in good shape with interesting marine life and structure.
Landing Craft. This 30m boat lies in 27m of water with some nice swim thrus and marine life.
Barges.
9 supply barges lie in 5 –15 m of water with plenty of marine life on this site.
There are also a number of coral dive sites.
There is the usual array of tropical marine life: parrot fish, wrasses, lionfish, batfish, jacks, trevallies, soldierfish, barracuda, sweetlips, butterflyfish and angelfish. Also Eagle rays and blue spotted rays and even rumours of bull sharks during the mating season.
